Physical Education P-12 Teaching Certification Major
This major is designed for individuals who enjoy participation in sport, exercise and physical activity, and are interested in working with children and youth. The Physical Education curriculum focuses on kinesiology disciplinary content knowledge and skills, and teacher education knowledge and skills that are essential for effective teachers of physical education. Students who successfully complete this program may apply for certification to teach physical education at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.
This is a selective program in which interested students declare Pre-Physical Education as a major. Once students meet the admission criteria for the teacher education program, they are admitted to the Physical Education Teacher Education Program and may proceed to complete the educational professional semester courses. Upon successful completion of the program may apply for teaching certification to teach P-12 Physical Education.
