Kimberly teaches Human Growth and Development to undergraduate students and Introduction to Gifted Education, Creative and Higher Level Thinking, School Programs for Gifted Students, and Cultural and Learning Diversity in the Graduate program. She received her B.A. from Purdue University in Elementary Education, her master's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky University and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Teaching and Learning.
“One of the greatest benefits offered by NKU is the small class sizes and the interaction with professors whether it be through classes, service learning projects, research, or other opportunities. The opportunities offered through the university are limitless,” says Kimberly. She enjoys the learner-centered focus and the overall environment of the university.
Prior to coming to NKU, Kimberly taught in both Campbell County and Newport Independent Schools. She is researching economic education, gifted education and online learning pedagogy. She is co-director of the Program for Talent Development and Gifted Studies and has helped develop an enrichment program for gifted and talented students in grades K-8 called “Explore More!” For the past six years she has been involved in service learning through an Economics Expo Conference that is now held annually at local elementary schools.
Kimberly is involved with the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program, Kentucky Council for Economic Education, National Association for Gifted Children, National Council for the Social Studies, Kappa Delta Pi, International Education Honor Society and Phi Delta Kappa International. She is married to a high school boys' basketball coach and the mother of two sons. They enjoy spending time on their family farm and going to the zoo, local museums, swimming and occasionally traveling. NKU has been part of her life since she was ten years old. She grew up on campus and received her master's degree here. She feels very fortunate to work at the university where she dreamed of teaching as a child.
