Accreditation & Annual Reports

Faculty, staff, and students actively work together to achieve the mission and objectives of the counseling program.  Students complete evaluations of the program annually, and take a leadership role through participation in a dynamic student led counseling honors society, Chi Sigma Iota – Nu Kappa.  Our chapter of Chi Sigma Iota (Nu Kappa) is focused on social service activities serving the surrounding urban, suburban, and rural areas.  Faculty also incorporates student feedback to constantly evolve and improve delivery of instruction strategies.  Currently, instruction is delivered through interactive classroom activities, lecture, group work, service projects, collaborative projects with area school and clinics, and through traditional or hybrid courses.

Northern Kentucky University is fully regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).  The education programs as well as the School Counseling Program is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  The Counseling Programs (School and Clinical Mental Health) are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

SYSTEMIC PROGRAM EVALUATION AND RESULTING MODIFICATIONS

The NKU counseling program uses a variety of data collection strategies to implement yearly systemic program evaluations.  The data includes ongoing assessment of current students, program evaluation by graduated students, and program evaluation by area clinics and schools, as well as other sources.  The programmatic evaluation is detailed within a document titled “Continuous Assessment” and began in spring 2011, we publish reports yearly.
