NKU Training Resource Center

Welcome to the Training Resource Center (TRC) at Northern Kentucky University! The TRC at NKU is part of a consortium of 8 Kentucky universities partnering with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to develop and deliver high-quality professional training opportunities, facilities, and resources for Cabinet employees, Foster/Adoptive families, and Social Service community partners.

The University Training Consortium (UTC), now in its 30th year of operation, was developed by Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in partnership with the Department for Community Based Services. The Partnership began in 1983 as a small contract with the Cabinet to improve Social Service Training delivery. It was expanded to include 3 universities in 1989 and now includes all 8 state universities.

Operating within the Department of Counseling, Social Work, and Leadership, the NKU University Training Consortium (UTC) and the Training Resource Center (TRC) work collaboratively with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. The TRC facilitates training, teaching, and promotion of organizational growth for human service workers throughout the Commonwealth.

Our Mission

To assist the Department for Community Based Services in developing and facilitating a professional, modern training system for its staff and Foster Parents. Our mission, directly in line with NKU’s mission and values, is to support public engagement that advances the progress of the region through community collaboration.
